Clayton Clinical Trial Update - 7/30/25

We spoke with the clinicians in charge of the 2 trials that Dr. Patnaik is giving us the option to choose from, and read over the consent forms she sent for us to read through for each. We both agree on which one we feel the best about Clayton starting, and as of now he will begin the trial at the end of August. He also met with a radiation oncologist today, to see if the lesion that is on his spine in the same spot that the degenerative disc is located, needs to be treated with radiation. Dr. Jenkins believes that the lesion on his spine is in fact causing him pain in his back, and that he does need to go ahead and have radiation treatment before the clinical trials start. Usually with radiation for this spot, he would go every day for 10 days, but because we don’t have time to do that before the trial, they are going to increase the radiation and complete his treatment in 5 days. He should be starting this next week. In order to start the clinical trials, Clayton has to have a “wash” period where there is no chemo or radiation in his system for 2 weeks before it begins, so we are somewhat up against the clock to try and get this done before the trial starts. Thankfully all of the doctors are communicating with each other and are on the same page trying to get this worked out in the best way possible for Clayton to be able to start the trial on time! We would love it if you could pray with us for the radiation to be successful with as few side effects as possible because he will be taking on so much in 5 days, and that his body will be ready to start the trial 2 weeks after that. We are also praying that the radiation along with the injections would bring some relief from the pain he has had in his back for so long. We would also love prayer for wisdom that we have chosen the right trial for him, that we continue to have discernment each week as we keep moving forward and that of course this drug would be the tool God uses to work miracles in his body. If I’m being honest, we’re ready for some good news and some relief from cancer and all the other issues that have come up recently. Thank yall for continuously praying for us, reaching out and offering to help and sometimes just acknowledging with us how crappy this all is. Sometimes that does more than you know. ❤️
