Clayton Health Update - 3/19/25

Brandon Gwinn

From Darby: Clayton went in for his second treatment this week. Because of spring break and weird schedule conflicts, he did his labs and appointment with Dr. Shalaby on Tuesday, and his treatment today. We have known this protocol could cause a skin rash as a side effect, and although it’s not something you REALLY want to deal with, we know it’s a good thing for him to have because it means the therapy is working. And last week Clayton started getting little spots here and there, and it has since spread, so we are now trying to control it. He started on one antibiotic the day we noticed it, but just switched to a stronger one to hopefully counteract it a little better! That’s the not so fun news. The GREAT news though, is that at his last lab draw on February 3rd, his CEA was 5.1. Yesterday when he went, his CEA was 2.3!!! His cancer marker is already going down significantly! We are SO thankful his body is already responding!!! He will still continue with the 6 hour treatment every other week and come home with the pump for 48 hours until it’s time to scan again, which will probably be sometime in May. But we are thrilled we are already seeing progress!! God continues to bring us encouragement when we need it, and hope when our faith feels weak. There have been a lot of times over the last few months we have felt your prayers holding our hands up in worship for us, thank you, thank you, for standing beside our family in this ❤️
