Update - 4/10/24

From Darby: Starting Saturday night, Clayton was having a lot of pain in his lower stomach and then he starting vomiting on Sunday. We called his oncologist Tuesday morning and they suggested that we go to the covenant ER on 102nd and Quaker for a CT scan. They did the ct scan there, and He had an obstruction and a perforation in his bowel. They had to take him by ambulance to the main hospital’s ER, to do an emergency surgery. They weren’t sure where the perforation was but once they got in there, it looked like the tumor in his colon had shrunk causing the perforation and his small intestines had sealed the perforation, causing the blockage. The surgery took about 3 hours and he did well. We are so grateful for Dr. Baucum and that she was able to the surgery! She was able to remove the primary tumor in his colon so that’s great news! For now he does have a colostomy bag and we will revisit a reversal option later on down the road. We saw Dr. Shalaby this morning and he said He will also pause chemo treatments for a couple of weeks while he heals from this surgery. His body needs a break, but there are some nerves about holding off on chemo for a while. So please pray the cancer does not grow while he is recovering from the surgery. We’re tired and discouraged and feel like we can’t catch a break. Will you please be praying for a fast recovery for Clayton, for him to be able to go home soon (we expect to be in here for 4-5 days) and for his pain to subside. There’s never a way to say thank you that feels adequate enough - but thank you for praying for us, checking on us, helping with our kids and for being there for us. It means everything!💜
